Holiday Central

It's that time of year again! As the end of the year—and the decade—comes to a close, there is no shortage of events to put you in the holiday spirit.

Head over to Union Depot in Lowertown Saint Paul where you can enjoy many festive activities throughout the holiday season, including illuminating the holiday tree and then the screen with favorite holiday flicks (Dec 6); visiting Santa's North Pole Express steam engine and vintage train cars (Dec 6-8, 12-15) and the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train (Dec 10); checking off your holiday shopping at the European Christmas Market (Dec 6-8, 13-15, 20-22); and stocking up on your favorite cookies at the Holiday Bake Sale (Dec 14).

Getting to Union Depot is all the easier thanks to MetroTransit which is offering free ride passes to and from Union Depot on Saturdays and Sundays in December.  And, on Saturday, Dec 21, Metro Transit and BNSF are teaming up for a free holiday tradition on the Northstar, starting at Big Lake station all the way to Union Depot for the festivities.

For a new holiday tradition, check out Sidekick Theatre's new musical adaptation of the beloved fairytale, Cinderella, at The Ives Auditorium in Bloomington, MN. Intended for youngsters of all ages, it's the perfect story for the holiday season.

And, if you're looking to escape the hectic holidays, head over to Park Square Theatre where you'll be transported to Regency England the reimagined classic Pride and Prejudice. Playing through Dec 22, this new take on Jane Austen is bold and timely, with a few dance breaks thrown in.
